An Epic of War, Honour and Human Loss

BUY NOW

War has raged beneath the walls of Troy for ten long years. Kings and warriors have crossed the sea in search of glory, revenge and a city that refuses to fall. But when the greatest Greek warrior, Achilles, withdraws from battle in anger, the balance of the war begins to shift.

As armies clash, Homer’s epic follows proud heroes, grieving families, rival kings and gods who interfere in human lives. At its heart is a story of rage, honour, friendship, loss and the terrible cost of war. The Iliad is not simply the story of Troy’s fall; it is a powerful portrait of the people caught inside a conflict that has grown larger than any one of them.

This modern English translation brings Homer’s great poem to today’s reader without losing its scale, drama or emotional force. The language is clear and natural, allowing the action, characters and unforgettable scenes to unfold without the barrier of archaic phrasing.

Designed for readers who want to experience the full power of the original story, this edition makes one of the world’s foundational works of literature more immediate, readable and enjoyable.
